NPA Life: Lunch

 

Parents are advised to send nutritious sandwiches, juice, and/or salads/vegetables and fruit for lunch. Food sent should be able to be eaten independently by your child (healthy finger foods cut into manageable-sized pieces). Because the children are small, they do not generally have enough time to finish large portions of food. Also, if treats are in their lunch bag, they love to eat sweets first; you may consider saving dessert for home. Please note the following specific limitations for health & safety considerations:

  • Popcorn, nuts, hard candy, soda, and glass bottled drinks will not be served
  • Hot dogs must be cut lengthwise and sliced
  • Grapes, raw carrots, and celery must be cut lengthwise
  • Apples, pears, and oranges must be peeled and seeded.

Children may participate in our hot-lunch program. The cost of meals and milk are $3 per lunch. If you prefer to pack a lunch, cold milk may be purchased for 50 cents per carton. You may make pre-payments and select your meals on a weekly basis. All students are required to have one meal card at all times during the school year. This card will be used for times when a lunch, snack or drink have been ordered or forgotten. This also aids the parents in last minute situations that require a quick lunch alternative. Balances held on these cards will be reimbursed at the end of the school year.

SNACK for 6 wk - 12mon

Parents are required to fill out a feeding schedule form with their child’s teacher. Food/formula is to be provided by the parent. All food and bottles must be dated and labeled. It is very important that your child’s teacher is aware of any food allergies your child might have.

SNACK for 2-4 Year Olds

A healthy morning is to be provided by the parent each day. If preferred morning snack may be purchased for $1.00 per day. An afternoon snack for full-day students will be provided each day. It is very important that your child's teacher is aware of any food allergies your child might have.

HOT LUNCH PROGRAM FOR ACADEMY

To encourage good nutrition, a well-balanced hot lunch will be offered daily. Your student may either bring a lunch or purchase a hot lunch for $3.00. Milk is included in the hot lunch price. If you prefer to pack a lunch, cold milk may be purchased for 50 cents per carton.

 

Lunch menu calendars will be prepared and sent home in advance. You may pick and choose days that you wish to buy a hot lunch and return the menu to your child's teacher. A copy will be returned to you as a reminder of the days your have ordered. Lunches are ordered at 10:00 am each day, so if you wish to add a day you have not signed up for, please let your child's teacher know that morning and a lunch can be ordered for that day.
