Kindergarten Teacher

Mrs. Jordan Carnes graduated magna cum laude from Brookwood High School in Snellville, Georgia. During her high school years, she whetted her teaching appetite by tutoring a number of subjects including Spanish, Algebra, and English. She began working at Rehoboth Baptist Churches summer pre-school program at the age of seventeen and has been working with children ever since.

After high school, she attended Brewton- Parker College in Mt. Vernon, Georgia, where she again graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelors Degree in Christianity and a minor in Psychology. During her years there, she was very involved in student life and leadership. The following is a list of some of the things she was involved in: chaplain of the volleyball team, resident assistant, active in her Baptist Student Union, Aid to the enrollment office, on student council, Baron Singer, and member of the concert choir.

After college graduation, she directed North Peachtree Academy’s first summer day school program before accepting a job as the Adminsitrative Assistant to the Department of Leadership at the Georgia Baptist Convention. She served there for almost three years before returning to N.P.A. in 2008 as the Kindergarten and First Grade Teacher. This is her 3rd year as a teacher at NPA.

Mrs. Carnes married Jonathan Carnes, one of the North Peachtree Baptist Church's Ministerial Staff, in 2005. They have four children: Ryan, Eden, Eli, and Mason...and one on the way (Feb. 2011). All of their children are active and enrolled in N.P.A.

1st - 2nd Grade Teacher

Ashley Carnes had the privilege of growing up in a very diverse area. She was able to work and volunteer with children in the metro Atlanta area for most of her life. For four years, she worked in the Sports Recreation Ministry of her church. She has also worked with summer camps, vacation bible schools, childcare work for multiple families, and as a nursery worker. Before starting college, she was an intern at an elementary school through a teaching program. While in college, she interned for Preschool, Kindergarten, First and Fifth Grade classrooms. She has been able to travel on mission trips to Colorado and Florida to work with children.

She began to work as a preschool lead teacher for a summer camp at a church, where she continued to work as a childcare provider over the last few years. She has an Early Childhood Education Degree from Georgia State University. This is her 2nd year as a teacher at NPA.

3rd - 5th Grade Teacher

Sandy Poppell, a former missionary, has been teaching for over five years in Christian schools. She graduated from the University of Florida with honors and is working on a Masters Degree from Liberty University. In addition to teaching, Mrs. Poppell has been an athlete Director, coached numerous sports, directed summer camps, and taught preschool. Most of all, Mrs. Poppell loves working with children and desires to see them grow spiritually.

Mrs. Poppell married Todd Poppell, one of North Peachtree Baptist Church's Ministerial Staff, in 1998. They have two children: Haddon and Chandler. All of their children are active and enrolled in N.P.A. This is her 3rd year teaching at NPA.

6th - 7th Grade Teacher

After serving time in the military, Randall Kemp felt the Lord leading him to work with children in the field of education. His heart for students began as a security officer in New York Pubic Schools. The Lord allowed him to make a difference in the community while touching the hearts of students, faculty, administration, and parents. After moving to Georgia in 2000, Randall met his wife two years later while serving as a volunteer sixth grade Bible study teacher at First Baptist Church of Atlanta. They were married in 2005. The Lord has allowed him to work full time, attend school full time, volunteer in ministry, and help at-risk youth in grades 2nd thru 8th at Cumberland Community Church in a program called The Echo Effect.

The military taught him to be disciplined. He was honored to make the presidents list in 2008 and dean’s list while attending Kennesaw State University. He was one of six students from his graduating class to participate in a year long student teacher internship pilot program at Marietta Middle School. The collaborating teacher granted him full classroom teaching and classroom management experience after a few months of lesson plan developing in 8th grade Georgia Studies. The experience was exciting for him because the students, faculty, and staff allowed him to grow and learn every aspect of being a teacher. In spring of 2009, he graduated with a BS in Middle Grades Education with an overall average of 3.41. This is his 2nd year teaching at NPA.
